The Shadow in the Mirror

The Shadow in the Mirror

Samantha had always been fascinated by antiques, so when she found an old, ornate mirror at a flea market, she couldn’t resist. The mirror was framed in intricate gold filigree and seemed to have a timeless quality. She placed it in her bedroom, admiring how it added a touch of elegance to the room.

That night, as she lay in bed, she kept glancing at the mirror. It was unusual how the reflection seemed slightly off—almost as if the room behind her was subtly different. She shrugged it off as fatigue and drifted to sleep.

Around midnight, Samantha woke to a strange feeling. The room was dark, and the only light came from the moon, casting eerie shadows across the walls. As she turned her head, she noticed something odd in the mirror’s reflection. There was a shadowy figure standing just outside her bedroom door.

Heart pounding, Samantha slowly sat up and looked directly at the door, but it was empty. She turned back to the mirror, and the figure was gone. The reflection showed only her own anxious face.

The next few nights were the same. Each time, the shadow would appear, always in a slightly different place, watching her from the edge of the mirror’s reflection. Despite her fear, Samantha couldn’t bring herself to get rid of the mirror. It was as if something about it kept her tethered to its eerie presence.

Finally, one evening, she decided to confront the shadow. As she stared into the mirror, she spoke out, “Who are you? What do you want?”

The shadow seemed to writhe and shift, and for a moment, Samantha saw a pair of hollow eyes staring back at her. Then, it vanished, leaving only her reflection behind.

The mirror remained in her room, but the shadow never appeared again. Samantha felt a mix of relief and lingering unease. It was as if the mirror had absorbed the presence and left her in a strange, unsettled peace.

To this day, the mirror still hangs in her room, a silent witness to a paranormal encounter that she can’t quite explain.
